Two EFL Championship play-off-hopefuls do battle at Ewood Park on Tuesday, as Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn Rovers and Mark Warburton’s Queens Park Rangers lock horns. Rovers are the slight favourites, but this has the potential to be an enthralling fixture in Lancashire. Check out our in-depth preview, with the latest odds and predictions.

Blackburn Rovers Preview – Can the Blue and Whites build on their huge win at Hillsborough?

Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn Rovers have been in patchy form in the Championship lately. The Blue and Whites had won four and drawn one of five before a five-game winless run.

However, after three draws and two defeats, Blackburn returned to winning ways in emphatic style last time out, thumping Sheffield Wednesday 5-0 away from home. Mowbray’s troops ran riot at Hillsborough, with a Lewis Holtby brace and a Cameron Dawson own goal giving Rovers a 3-0 half-time lead against ten-man Wednesday. Darragh Lenihan and Sam Gallagher added more goals in the second period.

Our betting prediction:
Blackburn to score first

Blackburn find themselves in 11th place in the Championship table at present. Rovers have won 11, drawn seven and lost ten. The Lancashire club are currently six points adrift of the top six.

Rovers have had problems away from home this term, losing eight times, but only Charlton Athletic and Luton Town have won at Ewood Park so far. Can Rovers secure a seventh home league victory on Tuesday?

Queens Park Rangers Preview – Can Rangers avoid a fourth straight away reverse?

Queens Park Rangers kicked off 2020 in outstanding style, thumping Cardiff City 6-1 at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on New Year’s Day. A few days later, the Hoops beat Swansea City 5-1 at home in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Rangers were beaten by fellow Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup last weekend, but they did get the better of Leeds United in their previous league affair. Nahki Wells’ goal after 20 minutes was enough to give the R’s a 1-0 win.

Rangers have been poor on the road lately, losing each of their last three. In fact, since winning 3-2 at Hull City, the London club have lost five of their last seven away matches in the Championship. Can Mark Warburton’s men avoid a fourth successive away defeat in midweek?

Blackburn Rovers vs Queens Park Rangers Betting Advice

Even though they played the majority of the game with a man more, Blackburn were sensational against Sheffield Wednesday last time out. The Owls are no pushovers at Hillsborough, but Mowbray’s men wiped the floor with their hosts.

Key Facts – Blackburn Rovers vs Queens Park Rangers Betting Tip

  • Blackburn have won just one of their last seven league and cup matches
  • Rovers have only lost twice at Ewood Park in this season’s Championship
  • Queens Park Rangers have lost each of their last three away from the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium

Blackburn have slipped away from the play-off spots after a poor run of results, but three points on Tuesday could put them right back into promotion contention. The home team are the favourites, with the bookies pricing them at 21/20.

You never quite know what QPR side will turn up at the moment. On their day, Rangers are capable of putting anyone to the sword. In the reverse game in the capital in October, Rangers beat Rovers 4-2, with four different players getting on the scoresheet. However, they have lost each of their last three on their travels.

Blackburn are unbeaten at home in eight, but five of those have been draws, including all of the last three. Nevertheless, I can see them getting the better of unpredictable QPR on Tuesday. Back the Blackburn win and under 2.5 goals at 2/1.
