Two teams with Premier League aspirations meet at Ewood Park in the EFL Championship this Saturday, as Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City square off. Tony Mowbray’s Rovers are in good form, but Steve Cooper’s Swans will want to strike back after Wednesday’s gut-wrenching loss at Fulham. This should be a Championship cracker.

Blackburn Rovers Preview – Can Mowbray’s men extend unbeaten run to five?

Blackburn Rovers have come from nowhere to put themselves well and truly in the hunt for the top six. Ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures, Tony Mowbray’s boys are in eighth spot, only four points away from the play-offs. Overall, the Blue and Whites have won 14, drawn ten and lost 11.

Rovers have been very hard to beat lately, losing only one league match since a 3-2 loss at Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Day. However, after back-to-back wins over Hull City (3-0) and Charlton Athletic (2-0), Blackburn have drawn their last two. Rovers were 2-0 up at Brentford but drew 2-2, which they followed up with a goalless home draw with Stoke City in midweek.

Our betting prediction:
Blackburn to score first
8/11

Blackburn do not lose many at home, with just Fulham leaving Ewood Park with all three points since September. In fact, Fulham, Luton Town and Charlton are the only teams to have won on their patch this term. After two draws, can Blackburn get back to winning ways at the weekend?

Swansea City Preview – Can the Swans respond from Wednesday’s disappointment?

Steve Cooper’s Swansea City had a setback in midweek, narrowly losing at Fulham. The Swans were heading for a draw, but the prolific Aleksandar Mitrovic had other ideas, scoring at the death to give Scott Parker’s Cottagers all three points at Craven Cottage.

Swansea have found wins hard to come by in recent months, winning only one of their past seven in the Championship. The Swans have been particularly poor on the road, with the December victory at Luton being their only away triumph since winning at Wigan Athletic on November 2nd.

Swansea could really do with maximum points at Ewood Park, as recent results has seen them slip five points behind sixth place and down to ninth in the table. A win in Lancashire on Saturday would put them right back on track in the promotion hunt.

Blackburn Rovers vs Swansea City Betting Advice

The last two Blackburn v Swansea meetings have ended level. In December, an eventful game at the Liberty Stadium finished in a draw, with players being sent off on either side. Former Swan Danny Graham gave Rovers a fourth-minute lead, which Andre Ayew cancelled out just six minutes later.

Key Facts – Blackburn Rovers vs Swansea City Betting Tip

  • Blackburn have been beaten just once in league action since New Year’s Day
  • Swansea have won only one of their previous seven (three draws, three defeats)
  • Rovers’ last league victory over the Swans came way back in December 2011

With both teams going all out to get the three points on Saturday, we should be in for an entertaining game in Lancashire. Blackburn are the favourites, but I’m tipping Swansea to battle to a draw at Ewood Park. The draw and both teams to score is nicely priced at 7/2.
