Blackburn Rovers’ playoff hopes look to be over after a terrible run of form but it’s very different for automatic promotion chasing Watford who have won their last three.

Blackburn Rovers Preview – Can Rovers end a run of four straight defeats to halt their slide down the table?
Tony Mowbray continues to get his Blackburn team performing well, earning many plaudits for the style of play. Rovers were being touted as potential playoff contenders at the beginning of this year but as it has done in the past couple of seasons, the form has tailed off just at the wrong time. They come into this game having lost four straight Championship matches – the first time that’s happened in two years.
That series of defeats mean they are now 10 points behind Bournemouth in sixth place. Whilst they have a game in hand over their opponent and many of the teams above them, there has to be real concern over their consistency from here on.
Watford Preview – Will in-form Hornets make it four wins in a row as they seek an immediate return to the Premier League?
With their constant changing of coaches and turnover in the playing squad, it’s fair to say Watford’s approach is not conventional and even has many critics. However, the owners will point to the fact that they have had sustained success by staying in the Premier League for five years and the season following relegation they are well placed to engineer an automatic return.
Watford are level on points with second place Brentford in a battle for second that also includes Swansea who have a couple of games in had over their rivals.

Xisco Munoz was the surprise choice to take over as head coach towards the end of last year but he is certainly proving his worth at the moment. His team are looking for a fourth straight win in the league and have scored nine goals in their last three. Their current position could be even better had it not been for the five draws in their last 10 away games.
It’s no surprise the goals they have scored of late with the attacking talent they possess. Troy Deeney, Ismaila Sarr and Joao Pedro have combined for 22 goals between them.
Blackburn Rovers vs Watford Betting Advice
Watford were comfortable winners when the team’s met earlier in the season and they are favourites to come out on top again. It’s understandable when you consider the team’s respective positions and also their recent form. However, there is a big difference between Watford at home an on their travels with a points differential of 19.
Unfortunately for Blackburn they are struggling to really assert any authority at home with one win in their last five and that lack of threat is going to be an issue against the second best defence in the Championship.
Key Facts – Blackburn Rovers vs Watford Betting Tip
- Blackburn sit 10 points behind sixth place and have a huge uphill battle to finish in the playoffs now
- Watford are level on points with second placed Brentford in a competitive race for automatic promotion
- The Hornets were comfortable 3-1 winners when the teams met at Vicarage Road
With Swansea breathing down their necks and Brentford playing at home tomorrow, this is a game that Watford will be targeting all three points. It may be a bit of a slog but I fancy them to have enough to do just that.
