Bolivia and Uruguay are both in search of their first wins of this year’s Copa America and this match could have a big bearing on who qualifies for the next stage.

Bolivia Preview – Can Bolivia bounce back from consecutive defeats and lift themselves off bottom spot?
Bolivia have been considered the whipping boys of South American football for sometime and this tournament is providing little evidence to dispel that so far. Two games in and they are still looking for their first points. A 3-1 defeat to Paraguay in their opening game followed by a narrow 1-0 loss against Chile leaves them at the bottom of Group A with two games to come. Bolivia will complete their section with a match against Argentina next Tuesday, an opponent who just happens to be top of the group.
You have to go all the way back to 2015 for the last time Bolivia won a game at the Copa America. Since then they have lost 10 consecutive matches which emphasises just how much of a challenge they have ahead of them.
Whilst it will take a big effort for Bolivia to qualify for the next stage the fact they are just a point behind Uruguay should give them some hope. They have also some some good form in the recent World Cup qualifiers taking four points from games against Venezuela and Chile and perhaps more importantly scoring four goals in the process.
The issue for Bolivia will always be winning outside of their country and not having the playing at altitude advantage over opponents.

No country has won more Copa Americas than Uruguay but it’s been a less than ideal start for Oscar Tabarez’ men. A defeat to arch rivals Argentina was followed by a draw with Chile in which they were rescued by yet another international goal from Luis Suarez. Some will point to the fact they have played the two highest ranked teams in the section but a slow start in any tournament can put nations under pressure.
After this game Uruguay will play Paraguay in their final game but they will want to ensure they go into that with qualification wrapped up.

To do that they need to win this game and that will assure them of fourth place at least. The concern for Uruguay is that their poor form is not confined to the start of the Copa America. They have not won any of their last five games and despite having the likes of Suarez and Edison Cavani leading the line have really struggled for goals. The goal against Chile is their only one in the last five matches.
That will inevitably increase the anxiety but there is so much experience in this squad that they will hope to overcome it.
