The Italian top flight has a full set of fixtures during this week, and my first pick features bottom half outfit, Bologna, taking on high-flying Inter Milan at their Stadio Renato Dall’Ara as the hosts look to curb the visitors’ promising start to the new Serie A campaign.
However, this may be easier said than done for the hosts as they come into this clash following back-to-back defeats recently to Napoli (3-0 at home) and a 2-1 loss away at Fiorentina. In fact, Bologna have managed just one league win from their first four matches of the season, which was a1-0 win away at new-boys, Benevento, who sit bottom of Serie A without a point.
Bologna are without a win from their last three matches on home turf, and they’ve failed to beat Inter Milan in each of their last seven encounters against them in all competitions.
Visitors Inter Milan could steal a march on their rivals at the top of Serie A on Tuesday night if they take all three points at Bologna on Tuesday night, as they’re level on 12 points with Napoli and Juventus ahead of Wednesday night’s fixtures.
Inter have come out of the blocks in explosive fashion at the start of this new Italian season as they possess a 100% winning record, winning all four of their matches to date in Serie A. Of particular note is their two wins away from home at AS Roma 3-1 and a 2-0 win at Crotone.
Indeed, Inter have conceded just one goal from their first four matches, and they’ll fancy their chances of achieving another shut-out in Bologna this evening. Inter are currently enjoying a six-match winning streak coming into this encounter, so they’ll be in confident mood.
