It’s the final day of the National League season this Saturday and all games will kick off at lunchtime, and my next pick features Boreham Wood entertaining bottom club Guiseley, who have already been relegated when the teams meet at Meadow Park.
Boreham Wood currently occupy seventh place and the last remaining play-off spot ahead of this encounter, and the hosts will be desperate to register all three points here which would confirm a top seven finish and a play-off spot, but having lost three of their last four matches overall, Boreham Wood will need to pull their socks up here.
On home turf though, Boreham Wood have been fairly consistent throughout this campaign and have lost just twice in their last nine amidst an overall record of 11-5-6 30/24 which includes recent wins over Tranmere Rovers and Chester. Midfielder Andrade (19 goals) and former QPR striker, Balanta (10 goals) are the ones to watch for the hosts.
Guiseley will play their last league match in the non-league top flight when they make their way to Hertfordshire to take on Boreham Wood as they were relegated some weeks ago, despite their midweek 4-3 win away at fellow relegated, Torquay United.
The visitors have had to endure a wretched campaign in the National League which has seen them record just seven league wins all season, and although they’ve picked up recent wins at Hartlepool United and the aforementioned Torquay, it was too little too late as Guiseley had suffered a seven-match losing streak on the road beforehand.
An away record of 4-3-15 22/53 also includes the visitors possessing the worst defensive record away from home in the division by some margin, and they’ve kept just three clean sheets on their travels all season.
