Borussia Dortmund can brush aside Monaco

Champions League Tips

Wednesday 3rd October 2000rs Borussia Dortmund v Monaco Football – Europe – Champions League Borussia Dortmund have been finalists of this competition as recently as 2013 and were challenging in the knockout stages for a couple of seasons after that but this is a completely different team nowadays and are looking to build up their reputation in the Champions League once again. Former managers Klopp and Tuchel are now in charge of two of the biggest clubs in Europe with Swiss manager Lucien Favre now tasked with the job of establishing Dortmund as a European force once again. It’s been an excellent start to the season for the new manager and his group of players, with the club top of the Bundesliga thanks to four win and a couple of draws from their first half dozen league games and a narrow 1-0 win away to Club Brugge on match day one in the Champions League, albeit they did ride their luck in Belgium and were fortune to leave with all three points. Favre will be well aware of how quickly things can change and with the visit of a team he knows well on Wednesday he’ll be hoping to take a further three points to cement themselves in the top two positions ahead of a critical double header with Atletico Madrid.

Monaco are on a wretched run of form currently and travel to Germany without a win in their last eight games in all competitions. Indeed, the club from the principality have managed just one win all season and that came on the opening day away to Nantes in Ligue 1. It’s been a really sobering start for a team who have done incredibly well over the last couple of seasons. It appears that the continuous overhaul of the squad has eventually caught up with Leonardo Jardim’s men who have sold on countless key men. Their strategy is an obvious one as they look to replace those sold with younger players, plucked from all over the world, who will eventually be sold on for big profit themselves – providing they perform. It puts huge pressure on the coach to get results and at the moment they’re failing to do so. Despite taking the lead against Atletico at home on match day one they were defeated and that’s been the story of their season thus far. There’s no doubt there is plenty of quality in this squad but they are lacking some experience and that’s showing both domestically and in Europe, currently.

Borussia Dortmund v Monaco Betting Tip

This is a meeting of two teams who have had very different starts to their season but will both have their eyes on a crucial three points. Dortmund were well below par in their first group game and had withstand an onslaught from the home team but were able to withstand and get a crucial winner which sets them up in a great position for qualification and they would enhance that with a home win over Monaco who will be hoping that this match could be a turning point.

Dortmund have been on fire in front of goal domestically scoring 19 goals in six games and they’re coming from all over the park. Monaco are the opposite currently and are struggling to find the net on a regularity and are also struggling to keep clean sheets. The home team are on a crest of a wave at the moment and confidence will be high heading into this one, it’s an obvious selection but one that I think will end up being a winner and that’s taking Dortmund to record another win. If you wish to boost the price then double it with both teams to score in the Tottenham – Barcelona match, as advised in another preview.
