Staying with the Brazilian Serie A, my next pick features a bottom half clash between hosts, Botafogo and visitors Vasco da Gama as the betting tips continue on Tuesday night.
Botafogo currently occupy the last remaining Copa Sudamericana spot heading into this encounter as they’ve lost just once in their last five matches overall in the Brazilian top flight. That defeat came in a 1-0 loss at Fluminense, but recent wins over America Mineiro and Vitoria along with points taken off 8th placed Cruzeiro and 4th placed Sao Paulo will give them confidence.
The hosts home record stands at a solid 6-6-1 15/10 so far this season and they’ve lost just twice in their last 15 matches at their Estádio Nilton Santos as they’ve made themselves a hard team to beat on home turf. Midfielder Lindoso (6 goals) and forward Kieza (7 goals) are the danger men for Botafogo.
Visitors Vasco da Gama sit in the bottom four of the Brazilian top flight as they make their way over to face a stubborn Botafogo outfit, but they do bring a four-match unbeaten run with them as they look to pull themselves out of the relegation zone here tonight.
Three draws against Flamengo, Santos and Parana were boosted by a 2-1 home win over 14th placed Bahia, but Vasco are still without an away win on their travels this season as their record of 0-6-7 8/18 shows.
In fact, Vasco da Gama are winless from their last 13 matches on the road and they’ve managed to keep just one clean sheet away from home all season to date.
The away side has won each of the last five meetings between these two teams, but my betting tips suggest siding with Botafogo on this one by using the handicap option.
