Brazil – Can Brazil get off to a good start?

Brazil are renowned for their slow and sluggish starts to major tournaments and none more so than their last effort in the Copa America which was staged in the USA.

The favourites failed to even progress out of their group which consisted of Peru, Ecuador and Haiti following a 0-0 draw with Ecuador, a 7-1 win over Haiti but most damaging of all, a 1-0 loss to Peru which saw the Brazilians bundled out of the competition at the group stage.

This time around though, Brazil look a completely different outfit with Tite at the helm, having replaced former coach Dunga, and this Brazil side mean business.

The hosts have notched 9 wins out of their last 10 international friendlies, and will be looking to add more silverware to their trophy cabinet with the Copa America firmly in their sights.

Brazil dished out a 5-0 thrashing to Friday night’s opponents, Bolivia, in their last meeting on home turf, while 4 of the last 7 meetings between these two sides have resulted in over 2.5 goals.

Bolivia Prediction – Can Bolivia stay close to Brazil?

Bolivia face a very tough assignment in the first match of this year’s Copa America as they face an in-form Brazil in their own backyard in Group A.

The visitors will no doubt be hoping they can catch Brazil cold in this opening game of the tournament, and will depend upon another slow start by the hosts.

Having lost their last 3 matches on the trot though and without a win from their last 7 matches overall in all competitions, it doesn’t look promising for Bolivia here.

Recent defeats away from home at South Korea, Japan and France – all to nil, is not the best preparation ahead of a date with Brazil who are itching to prove a point in this competition.

In addition, Bolivia have failed to score in 5 of these last 7 matches and have managed to record just 1 away win out of their last 15 matches on the road.

A 3-0 win at Myanmar back in October 2018 is slim pickings for this Bolivia outfit who look to have their work cut out to even compete with Brazil in this clash.

Key-Facts – Brazil v Bolivia

  • Brazil thrashed Bolivia 5-0 in their last meeting at home
  • Bolivia have kept just 1 clean sheet in their previous 6 visits to Brazil
  • 4 of the last 7 meetings between these two sides have resulted in over 2.5 goals

Betting Tips Verdict

Brazil should get their Copa America campaign off to a winning start here and do so with ease. There should be a few goals too.
