Brazil Preview – Will Brazil put their poor recent form behind them and get back to winning ways against old foe

Since winning the Copa America on home soil in the summer it’s been a series of disappointments for Brazil. In the four games they have played following their continental success, Brazil have failed to win any of them. Tite will not be too concerned with that run of form considering it’s only been friendly games and there is always likely to be something of a comedown from the highs that this squad experienced. He will, however, hope to get back to winning ways sooner rather than later and Brazil will close out what has been a successful calendar year with another friendly against South Korea on in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

Brazil took the scalp of Argentina en route to the Copa America final, beating their old foe at the last four stage. The goal scorers that time were Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino and the onus will be on that duo once again for goals with the continued absence of Neymar to injury. Neither player has been prolific for their clubs of late, though, and will be looking to find the net here.

Argentina Preview – Can Argentina gain some revenge for Copa America defeat to Brazil?

The World Cup last year and then this summer’s Copa America only served to underline that this is not a vintage period for Argentinian football. Lionel Messi’s struggles at international level have been well documented and it looked as though it would be a long road ahead for all concerned. It may only be a sample of four games, all of which are friendly matches, but there are some more encouraging signs for what’s ahead. Since the Copa America Argentina are unbeaten in four games winning two of them. That may not seem overly impressive but the performances have been better and there have been positive individual contributions.

The 4-0 win over Mexico and 6-1 win away to Ecuador are clearly the headline results and have been achieved with the services of Messi who has been serving a suspension since that infamous match with Chile in the Copa America. That meant others had to eventually stand up and Lautaro Martinez and Lucas Ocampos have been at the forefront of that. The duo have been excellent for their club sides as well this season and will be out to continue that, with the return of Messi likely.

Brazil vs Argentina Betting Advice

The prestige of this games means that it’s a lucrative proposition which is why the game is taking place in Saudi Arabia with both associations leaving their ethics at the door in return for huge sums of money. The setting aside, it’s still a game which promises to be interesting – not least as it’s the return of Messi. Brazil may well be without their star man but  they showed in the summer that they are far from being a one man team.

It was Brazil that ran out winners just over a year ago when the game took place in Jeddah – Miranda’s goal with the final kick of the game earning the victory. This looks like a good opportunity for Argentina to exact revenge for that defeat and the Copa America loss. The attack has looked much more dynamic in recent games and Messi’s return will add to that.
