Griffin Park is the venue of my next pick as Brentford entertain Wigan Athletic with further betting tips available for the Championship this Saturday afternoon.
Brentford continue to confound their critics although regular followers of the Championship would hold a very different view of The Bees as they have become one of the hardest teams to beat in the division. This continues to be the case this season as the hosts occupy one of the play-off places in 5th place having suffered just one defeat so far this season.
The one defeat came in a 1-0 loss away at Blackburn Rovers, but at Griffin Park, Brentford have racked up three wins on the trot over Rotherham United, Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest.
Indeed, Griffin Park is something of a fortress for Dean Smith’s side as they’ve lost just twice in their last 25 matches in the Championship. Leading goalscorer and striker Maupay (5 goals) will return today and he’ll be well supported by attacking midfielder Watkins (4 goals).
Wigan Athletic sit in 10th place in the Championship after having made a reasonable start to their return to the second flight following last season’s automatic promotion from League One. Prior to the international break, Paul Cook’s side grabbed all three points with a narrow 1-0 home win over Rotherham United.
However, although Wigan Athletic still remain unbeaten at the DW Stadium with wins over Sheffield Wednesday and the aforementioned Rotherham United as well as a draw with Nottingham Forest, The Latics have struggled on the road.
Defeats at Aston Villa and QPR have been the sandwich between a 3-0 win at Stoke City, but it’s just one win from their last seven away matches at this level for the visitors.
