Brentford Preview – Will the Bees become a Premier League team for the very first time?

Brentford have had an exceptional year under Thomas Frank. The signs were there last term, but the Bees have really stepped it up this season. Brentford, who said goodbye to Griffin Park last week, finished on 81 points, beating Fulham to third place on goal difference.

Having missed the chance to go up automatically, Brentford did a fine job of navigating past Swansea City in a tricky Championship play-off semi-final. The Welsh side picked up a 1-0 win at the Liberty Stadium in the first leg, but the Bees turned things around in style on home turf.

Frank’s men secured a 3-1 victory in their last ever game at Griffin Park, with Ollie Watkins, Emiliano Marcondes and Bryan Mbeumo scoring the goals. Despite a late scare, Brentford held on for a 3-2 win on aggregate.

Overall, the west London outfit won 23 times in this season’s Championship, including eight in a row. Brentford head into this final as the 11/10 favourites. Can the Bees secure their place in next season’s Premier League?

Fulham Preview – Can the Cottagers win at Wembley again?

Fulham dropped down from the Premier League after a poor showing in the 2018-19 campaign. However, they dusted themselves down and quickly turned themselves into one of the Championship’s big hitters. The Cottagers accumulated 81 points, winning 23, drawing 12 and losing 11 in the regular season.

Like Brentford, Fulham also beat Welsh opponents to book their place at Wembley. Scott Parker’s troops were excellent at Cardiff City in the first leg, as goals from Josh Onomah and Neeskens Kebano gave the Cottagers a deserved 2-0 win at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The second leg was a completely different game, though, as Fulham were dominated at times by the team from South Wales. Still, despite Cardiff winning 2-1 at Craven Cottage, Fulham held on for a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Parker’s men would have been targeting automatic promotion before a ball was kicked back in August 2019 but, in fairness, they did take it to the final day. The Londoners know all about promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs having beaten Aston Villa in the 2018 final. Two years on, can the Cottagers to repeat that feat?

Brentford vs Fulham Betting Advice

In the regular season, Brentford did the double over their rivals. Back in December, a first-half Bryan Mbeumo goal proved to be enough to give the Bees a 1-0 victory on home soil. Late goals from Said Benrahma and Emiliano Marcondes then gave Brentford a 2-0 win at Craven Cottage in June.

Key Facts – Brentford vs Fulham Betting Tip

  • Brentford picked up 24 wins in the regular Championship campaign, one more than Fulham
  • The Bees beat the Cottagers home and away in this season’s Championship, scoring three and conceding none
  • Fulham’s last league win over Brentford was way back in 1998

Brentford have a very good recent record over their rivals. In fact, Fulham have won just one of the last ten meetings.

Frank’s side have been incredibly easy on the eye this season. After three successive defeats, the Bees were back to their brilliant best in the second leg of their semi-final last time out. This promises to be a tight and tense but open final at Wembley. Have a punt on Brentford to win and both teams to score at 15/4.

Ollie Watkins has had an outstanding season in front of goal for the Bees. Put some money on Brentford’s no. 11 to score first (7/2) in the national stadium on Tuesday night.
