Preview: Since upsetting Arsenal to win 2-0 on the opening night of the season, Brentford haven’t managed a win at their Brentford Community Stadium. Thomas Frank’s side will be aiming to put that right when Leicester, who have toiled on their travels so far this season, visit West London on Sunday.

Brentford – Bees better at home than results suggest?

Thomas Frank described Chelsea as “very, very, very lucky”, after his team were beaten 1-0 at home by the European Champions last Saturday. The statistics would suggest he had a valid point. His Brentford side came out on top in near enough every offensive metric – their 17 shots, with 7 on target, easily dwarfing that of the Blues (5 and 1) – except for that one that truly matters, which was the scoreline.

Brentford have now lost twice since earning promotion. On both occasions they were the home side, along with five of the seven goals they have conceded so far also occurring at the newly built Brentford Community Stadium. In fact the Bees are winless in their last three league outings there (D1 L2), but have already played Arsenal, who they beat 2-0 on opening night, Brighton, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Frank’s men held the latter of those, 2019-20 league champions Liverpool, to a 3-3 draw that will be remembered for many years to come. While both defeats (also vs Brighton) came via the same slender 1-0 scoreline. So results at home thus far only tell part of the story. And if they could begin Sunday’s fixture in a similar vein to how they finished their last here, Frank may not have to rely on luck favouring his side.

Leicester City – Leaky Foxes back to winning ways?

Brendan Rodgers named a strong line-up, minus Jamie Vardy, for Wednesday’s Europa League outing in Moscow. The Northern Irishman was duly rewarded with a courageous display from those were handed starts. Summer signing Patson Daka the pick of them, netting all four goals as Leicester fought back from two goals down against Spartak Moscow to record a 4-3 victory.

That was their first win in Europe this season. In the Premier League, it has been a similar tale of struggle. The Foxes infamously spent more time in the top four across the previous two campaigns than any other team without finishing there, but languish in the division’s lower half this term. Which is where they remain, in 11th, despite last week’s exhilarating 4-2 triumph at home to Manchester United.

Victory over Solskjaer’s erratic side halted a four-match winless streak (D2 L2) for Leicester, who have conceded in all seven league games – exactly twice in each of the last four – since beating Wolves 1-0 on the opening weekend. Rodgers still has his work cut out getting this team back to the force it was of old then. Especially on the road, having beaten only bottom side Norwich in four such fixtures so far (D1 L2).

Brentford Vs Leicester City Betting Advice

The Bees’ early schedule at their Brentford Community Stadium has been testing to say the least. Thomas Frank’s men have already hosted three sides currently occupying the top four places in the division. Beaten narrowly here by Brighton (4) and Chelsea (1), they gave Liverpool an almighty scare in a thrilling 3-3 draw and recorded a memorable 2-0 win over Arsenal to mark their first ever home Premier League fixture.

Brentford Vs Leicester City – Key Facts:

  • This will be the side’s first meeting in the Premier League. Leicester are unbeaten across their seven previous meetings in all competitions though, winning six.
  • The Foxes also boast a decent record when facing newly promoted sides having won each of the last four such matches.
  • Defensively, though, Leicester remain a work in process this season, conceding in each of their last seven Premier League games with all these producing Both Teams to Score.

A potential issue for the hosts is that their upcoming opponents are coming off a couple of feel good results. Leicester’s last two games have seen them come from behind both times to score four in victory, the first of those against Man Utd. Going some way to rebuilding some fractured confidence after a sluggish start to the campaign. Yet it is now no clean sheets for seven league games, with each of these seeing both teams score.
