Preview: On Tuesday, in what will be a first, the Brentford Community Stadium will host the most successful club in Premier League history for what promises to be an absorbing contest in West London between two sides, Brentford and Manchester United, keen to follow up winning performances over the weekend.

Brentford – Bees seeking hat-trick of Premier League home wins?

Thomas Frank’s side come into Tuesday’s contest at Brentford Community Stadium, a ground which is welcoming the 20-time champions of England for the first time, on a real high following Friday’s dramatic victory over Watford. Late goals from Pontus Jansson and Bryan Mbeumo, the latter a 96th-minute penalty, sealing a 2-1 win that provisionally moved the Bees ten points clear of the relegation zone.

That stunning turnaround means Brentford have lost one league game in five (W2 D2). That is some achievement considering the raft of absentees Frank is currently forced to work around. And after failing to win for five successive home games, a run that included three defeats in a row to Chelsea, Leicester and Norwich, it is now back-to-back victories in West London for the newly promoted outfit.

A concern for Frank, though, will be the volume of goals his side are conceding. It is now one clean sheet in eleven Premier League games, shipping multiple goals in seven of these. On the flip side, Brentford have only failed to find the net in one of the past seven. Meanwhile, of the seven teams to visit the Brentford Community Stadium so far this season, only Brighton and Chelsea prevented the home side from scoring.

Manchester United – Third straight win to nil for Rangnick’s Red Devils?

Two league games into Ralf Rangnick’s tenure as Manchester United manager and his new team have won both, each via the same scoreline of 1-0, after United followed up their narrow victory at home to Crystal Palace by scraping past the league’s bottom side Norwich at Carrow Road. The new boss named the same starting XI on both occasions, something he seems unlikely to do for a third game running at Brentford.

The general consensus was that Norwich deserved at least a point, which was perfectly encapsulated when United goalkeeper David de Gea was named Man of the Match for a number of outstanding stops. Rangnick will therefore be considering changes in a bid to freshen up a side that lacked ideas and attacking impetus at times but has now won three league games on the spin for only the second time this season.

Each said victory came by single-goal margins, emphasising the good fortune that has accompanied some of these recent results. Yet winning breeds confidence. However, that was a fifth Premier League outing in six in which a team boasting an impressive array of attacking riches failed to muster more than one goal. Their recent form away from home has also been disappointing, winning just two of the last five (D1 L2).

Brentford Vs Manchester United Betting Advice

There should be a spring in the step of both sets of players as Brentford and Manchester United seek to follow up winning displays last time out. The former are coming off one loss in five (W2 D2) and have won the last two encounters here in West London. Neither Everton or Watford are of the ilk of this Manchester United side, though, which has won three consecutive league games for only the second time this season.

Brentford Vs Manchester United – Key Facts:

  • Despite this being Brentford’s (W5 D5 L6) first spell in the Premier League, they sit just seven points off a Manchester United (W8 D3 L5) outfit that finished second in 2020-21.
  • Brentford will host the Red Devils for the very first time having lost once in the league in five (W2 D2), but are facing a team chasing a fourth straight league win.
  • Man Utd are yet to concede under new manager Ralf Rangnick. Conversely, it is one clean sheet in eleven for Brentford, whose games do tend to witness goals at both ends.

I quite like the look about Both Teams To Score. However, this particular bet has yet to deliver during Ralf Rangnick’s brief time as Man Utd manager. His side would give up a host of chances to the division’s worst attack on Saturday, though, somehow recording a second successive Premier League shutout. Six of Brentford’s last eight games saw both teams score meanwhile, including four of the previous five to have taken place inside Brentford Community Stadium.
