Brentford and Reading both have Premier League aspirations, but who will come out on top when the pair meet in a mouth-watering EFL Championship fixture at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday? With the Bees and Royals separated by just one place and one point, Saturday’s showdown promises to be a Christmas cracker. Take a look at our in-depth betting preview.

Brentford Preview – Can the Bees avoid a fourth draw in five matches?

Brentford have only lost three times this term, but the London side have drawn far too many games for Thomas Frank’s liking. Eight of the Bees’ 19 Championship matches have ended all square, with just Millwall drawing more so far. Seven of their last 12 have been draws.

Nevertheless, Brentford have been incredibly hard to beat lately. Since a 3-2 loss at Stoke City on October 24th, the Bees are undefeated in 12, though they have picked up just five wins during that run.

Our betting prediction:
Brentford to be winning at half time & full time
7/4

Brentford have settled in nicely at their new home. The team from west London have only been beaten once on home soil, but five of their last six at the Brentford Community Stadium have ended level.

With Reading also chasing one of the three promotion spots, Brentford could really do with a home win on Saturday. Frank’s boys are the clear favourites at 7/10.

Reading Preview – Royals to suffer a third defeat in four?

Veljko Paunovic has had an eventful time since taking over at the Madejski Stadium in the summer. Reading started the season like a house on fire, winning seven and drawing one of their opening eight to fire themselves to top spot.

Unfortunately for the Berkshire club, they have failed to keep that stunning momentum going. In fact, they have picked up just three wins from their last 11, losing six times along the way. Reading are still in the top six, even though they have lost two of their last three.

After Wednesday night’s disappointing home defeat to leaders Norwich City, Reading will be eager to hit back with a positive result in London this weekend. The away win is currently priced at 15/4, while you can get the draw at 11/4.

Brentford vs Reading Betting Advice

On their way to a third-place finish in the Championship last term, Brentford did the double over Reading. Frank’s troops won 1-0 at Griffin Park in November thanks to an Ollie Watkins goal. Bryan Mbeumo, Josh Da Silva and Joel Valencia were on the scoresheet in an impressive 3-0 Bees win at the Madejski Stadium.

Key Facts – Brentford vs Reading Betting Tip

  • Reading have won only one of the last six meetings
  • Brentford have lost just three of their 19 Championship matches this term
  • The Royals have lost two of their last three ahead of Saturday’s game

Judging by the league table, these two teams are well matched. However, we fancy Brentford to pick up a comfortable home win on Saturday. Check out the decent price of 15/8 for the hosts to win -1.

Ivan Toney has hit the ground running at the Brentford Community Stadium since his summer move. The 24-year-old leads the way at the top of the Championship scoring charts with a staggering 16 goals to his name, with Toney already netted three braces. You can get 10/3 for the Brentford hitman to score two or more on Saturday.
