Brentford Preview – Will the Bees secure a much-needed home win?

After back-to-back victories over Hull City (5-1) and Middlesbrough (3-2) in early February, Brentford have failed to win any of their following five, drawing four and losing one. Last weekend, Thomas Frank’s boys let a 2-0 lead slip to draw 2-2 with Cardiff City at the Cardiff City Stadium in South Wales.

Despite their recent slump in form, Brentford are still in the Championship play-off places at present. The London side are in fifth position with 57 points to their name, three points ahead of seventh but a whopping 11 points adrift of second.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score – No
4/5

Brentford have been very solid at Griffin Park this season, winning nine times. Only Birmingham City, Huddersfield Town and Nottingham Forest have left their west London home with all three points. Just Fulham, Preston North End, Derby County and Leeds United have better home records than the Bees up until now.

Having picked up just four points from the last 15 on the table, Brentford will be eager to get back to winning ways on home turf this weekend. Can the Bees sting Wednesday and pick up all three points in this crucial Championship clash?

Sheffield Wednesday Preview – Can the out-of-sorts Owls leave London with a positive result?

Over the festive period, Sheffield Wednesday were well and truly in the mix for a play-off spot. However, since a 1-0 home win over Bristol City three days before Christmas, the Owls have won just two of 13 league matches, losing eight and drawing three of the other 11.

Wednesday’s woeful form has seen them slip down to 12th in the table. With ten matches left to play, the Sheffield club are eight points away from sixth-place Preston. The Owls will need a miracle to break into the top six this term.

Wednesday have really struggled for wins of late and the pressure is starting to mount on Garry Monk. Since winning at Elland Road, the Owls have only managed to beat lowly Charlton Athletic in the Championship. They could be in for another tough afternoon in the capital at the weekend.

Brentford vs Sheffield Wednesday Betting Advice

Sheffield Wednesday have won the last two meetings, including this season’s reverse game at Hillsborough. Back in December, the club from the Steel City came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory. Steven Fletcher was the Owls’ hero in that one, helping himself to a brace.

Key Facts – Brentford vs Sheffield Wednesday Betting Tip

  • Brentford have failed to win any of their last five, drawing four and losing one
  • Sheffield Wednesday have won just two Championship games in 2020
  • The Owls have lost two and drawn two of their previous four away league matches

With neither in good form, both teams will be desperate for all three points in this one. A draw would be a good result for Wednesday, but this really is a must-win game for Brentford. It could be close, but my money is going on a narrow margin of victory for the home team. You can get Brentford to win by one at 11/4.

Only Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic has netted more than Brentford’s Ollie Watkins this season. Watkins has scored an impressive 22 league goals, including two in his last three. The Brentford No. 11 is available at evens to score anytime on Saturday.
