Brentford – Danish connection working like a charm?

Three successive victories has all but eased any uncertainty regarding relegation for the West London club. Brentford have 39 points after 33 games and are now closer to sixth-placed Manchester United than they are Burnley in 18th. Many in their situation might take their foot off the gas. I’m not sure this will be the case with this team, though, with a top-ten finish and extending their winning run firmly on the agenda.

That is now five wins in six for Thomas Frank’s side, the Dane benefiting immensely from the presence of his fellow countryman. Cristian Eriksen boasting a 100% win ratio in all five games he has started for the Bees. The playmaker supplied the assist for their late winner last time out against Watford (1-2), his creative quality galvanising a team that had gone eight Premier League games without a win before his first start.

Key Stat: In Premier League games this season in which Brentford scored the game’s opening goal, their record reads W8 D2. Meanwhile, only Chelsea have earned more points in London derbies than the Bees (14).

Tottenham – Grip on fourth reduced to mere goal difference?

Arguably the most fascinating battle in the Premier League isn’t that at the very top but the one just below, as a bunch of sides amble from one mishap to another in their efforts to clinch that fourth and, most likely, final Champions League berth. Tottenham appeared to be in complete control when reeling off four straight wins, but then went and lost 1-0 at home to Brighton without managing a shot on target.

Spurs were in red hot form prior to last week’s setback, notching 14 times in those four victories. Aside from maybe Liverpool, they were the league’s in-form attacking side. So quite where it all went wrong is a mystery. However, Antonio Conte will be pleased to know his side responded well to previous losses, bouncing back to win the last two times they were in this predicament, both away from home and to nil.

Key Stat: This will be Tottenham’s 16th Premier League fixture of 2022. They are yet to play out a single draw, winning nine and losing six since the turn of the year.

Brentford Vs Tottenham Betting Advice

Those keen on the recent head-to-head record between the sides may as well not bother, as prior to Tottenham winning 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in December the clubs hadn’t encountered one another in more than two decades. In fact, another Spurs victory would see them complete a first-ever league double. That is easier said than done, however, with hosts Brentford in excellent form of late.

Brentford Vs Tottenham – Key Facts:

  • The club are meeting for only the third time in little more than 20 years. Tottenham were victorious in their two most recent encounters, though, both via 2-0 scorelines as hosts.
  • Brentford boast five wins in their last six Premier League games, winning their past two home matches via 2-0 scorelines – versus Burnley and West Ham.
  • Tottenham are yet to draw a league game in 2022 (W9 L6), winning six of eight away fixtures in the competition since the turn of the year with the last three all being ‘to nil’.

Both these sides boast outstanding records when scoring first this season, with Brentford unbeaten in eight and Spurs winning all six away games in which they’ve got their noses in front. Something for any in-play backers to consider. At the odds available though, I still feel Conte’s men are worth supporting. They’ve six wins across their last eight away league games and put four past Aston Villa in the latest of them.
