Brest and Strasbourg are level on points in Ligue 1 coming into this match. Both are currently just below mid table but a win for either could see them move into the top half depending on results elsewhere.

Brest Preview – Can Brest end a run of four games without a win and enhance a pretty solid home record?

This is the first time in seven seasons Brest are competing in the top-flight and they are looking to ensure it’s longer than just one season they stay. The club are currently in 15th spot but only three points outside the bottom three in which is a very condensed bottom half of the division. It was looking more positive for Brest a few weeks ago but they coming into this match having lost three of their last four and without a win in the league since the end of October. At that stage they were sitting comfortably in the top half and they are looking to return there with a win on Tuesday.

If Brest are to remain clear of relegation then it’s likely going to be their home form which saves them. In their six home matches in Ligue 1 only PSG have beaten them and three of their four wins this season have come at home. With only one win on their travels to date they are going to have to lean on their home form heavily.

Strasbourg Preview – Will Strasbourg continue their recent revival and make it four wins from six matches?

It was a memorable season for Strasbourg last season due to winning the French League Cup for the fourth time in their history. That gave them an opportunity to compete in European competition but they were eliminated in the qualifiers. As is so often the case for teams who are not used to playing in Europe, Strasbourg’s domestic form suffered in the early part of the season. They managed only one win in their first seven games and two in their first 10. It was a run which had them in the bottom five for much of the campaign and very much in the battle to avoid the drop. Strasbourg’s recent resurgence has seen them win three of their last five including their first away victory of the campaign.

The only teams to have beaten them in that run of fives games reside in the top seven and both by a single goal. It’s a level of form which Strasbourg will hope to continue as they bid to move further away form the bottom end of the table and preserve their Ligue 1 status.

Key-Facts – Brest vs Strasbourg

    • Brest won promotion to Ligue 1 this season and have equipped themselves but have hit a rocky spell of late and looking for their first win in five
    • Strasbourg begun this season very slowly but there are signs of late they are beginning to find their form and looking to climb the table
    • Brest’s home record is good with just one defeat in eight whilst their opponents have only won once on their travels

Brest vs Strasbourg Betting Advice

There is only goal difference separating these two teams after 15 matches so we should expect a close encounter on Tuesday. Brest will hope to continue what has been a strong home record, even dating back to last season. For Strasbourg they will be looking to build on their win in their last away game – an excellent 4-0 win at Amiens. They have only picked up one point from their other six away games and scored a further goal in that same run of games.

Both teams are looking to move further away from the relegation zone and three points here would be precious in regards to that. Six of Brest’s eight home games have ended with two or fewer goals as have six of Strasbourg’s seven away games. With the two teams looking so evenly matched it’s likely to be a close game and under 2.5 goals looks the way to go.
