Brighton Prediction

Brighton were handed a third defeat on the trot in the Premier League on Saturday when The Seagulls capitulated in a heavy 5-0 loss at home to south coast rivals, Bournemouth, and this followed previous back-to-back defeats to Southampton and Chelsea.

These three defeats on the bounce has now left Brighton dangerously close to the relegation zone as they now sit just above the bottom three, but hold a useful five point cushion ahead of third from bottom club and tonight’s opponents, Cardiff City.

Brighton had to endure a sticky patch of form from the start of the year as they went seven matches without a win which included defeats to Liverpool, Manchester United, Fulham, Burnley and Leicester City, but they did bounce back with a couple of wins afterwards.

Back-to-back wins over Huddersfield Town and arch-enemies Crystal Palace seemed to set Chris Hughton’s side back on course, but the hosts have since suffered another slump in form, while their overall home record stands at an indifferent 6-4-6 17/21.

After the thrashing to Bournemouth, we’re expecting Hughton to have laid down the law in no uncertain fashion and there should be a reaction in this encounter.

Key-Facts – Brighton v Cardiff City

  • Brighton have lost their last 3 league matches on the trot in the EPL
  • Cardiff City have lost 6 of their last 7 matches overall in the EPL
  • 4 of the last 7 meetings between these two clubs have ended in stalemate

Cardiff City Prediction

Cardiff City also stumbled to a third league defeat on the trot in the Premier League on the weekend when they lost 2-0 away at Burnley which saw The Clarets move to 11 points ahead of the relegation zone while Cardiff were sent another step towards the trap-door.

The Bluebirds still remain third from bottom despite Fulham’s 2-0 home win over Everton, but they’re still five points adrift of tonight’s hosts, Brighton, ahead of their clash at the AMEX Stadium with just five matches of the season remaining.

Time is fast running out for Neil Warnock’s side and their predicament certainly hasn’t been helped by the fact that they’ve lost six of their last seven matches overall in the Premier League with defeats against Watford, Everton, Wolves, Chelsea, Manchester City and Burnley.

Their one highlight during this recent miserable seven match sequence was a 2-0 home win over West Ham but it may very well be a case of too little too late for the Welsh club as they prepare for their trip down to Brighton on Tuesday night.

Betting Tips Verdict

With neither side in form ahead of this clash, this may well fizzle out into a stalemate on the south coast here.
