Brighton Prediction

Brighton are enjoying a successful spell of results under manager Chris Hughton recently as The Seagulls have won four of their last five matches in all competitions which include FA Cup wins over Championship clubs, Derby County and Millwall, along with important back-to-back wins in the Premier League against Huddersfield Town and Crystal Palace.

The hosts sit one league position but a crucial three points ahead of their south coast rivals, Southampton, prior to this important lower half clash in the Premier League, and all three points here would see Brighton take a big step towards confirming their safety in the top flight for another season.

Brighton’s home record at their AMEX Stadium stands at an overall reasonable looking 6-4-4 17/15 where they’ve registered recent wins against Everton and Huddersfield Town, but losses to Liverpool and Burnley should see the hosts focus on getting a result here.

The hosts have kept five clean sheets at home so far this season and with the likes of forwards Murray (11 goals) and Andone (3 goals), The Seagulls should at least avoid defeat at the AMEX Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Key-Facts – Brighton v Southampton

  • Brighton have won 4 of their last 5 matches overall in all competitions
  • Southampton have failed to score in 6 of their 15 away matches to date
  • The last 3 meetings between these two clubs in the EPL have ended in draws

Southampton Prediction

Southampton have registered four wins from their last 10 matches in the Premier League which has helped keep The Saints’ heads above water in their fight against relegation, but although they’ve lifted themselves out of the bottom three, the visitors are still only two points above third from bottom club, Cardiff City prior to their trip to Brighton this Saturday.

These five wins (against Leicester City, Everton, Fulham and most impressive of all, Tottenham) have given Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side a real chance of staying up, and the Austrian manager has certainly made a positive impact on the south coast since replacing Southampton’s former coach, Mark Hughes.

However, it should be noted that only one of their recent four wins were recorded away from home (at Leicester City when Claude Puel was in charge of The Foxes), and an away record of 3-3-9 15/28 still requires urgent attention if they’re to avoid the drop.

Saints have lost their last two away matches on the trot although these were incurred at Arsenal and Manchester United, but they’ll fancy their chances of getting something at close rivals Brighton on Saturday.

Forward Ings (7 goals) is Southampton’s leading goalscorer but he’s an injury doubt ahead of this clash.

Betting Tips Verdict

Brighton’s recent momentum should see the hosts at least avoid defeat here, but they could perhaps nick all three points in what should be a close encounter.
