Brighton will come into this 4th round FA Cup tie in reasonable spirits despite losing their last two matches on the trot, as the hosts look to book their place in the 5th round and gain some welcome additional funds for the club’s bank balance.
The two defeats were in tough fixtures against Premier League leaders Liverpool where they lost 1-0 at home and against a rejuvenated Manchester United outfit, losing 2-1 at Old Trafford. West Brom find themselves just three points behind the automatic promotion spots in the Championship and are still in the FA Cup thanks to a 3rd round 1-0 home win over Wigan Athletic at The Hawthorns.
The Baggies are in good form overall too as they’ve lost just once in their last 13 matches in all competitions which was a 2-1 defeat away at Blackburn Rovers, while their results and form away from home have been very good in recent weeks.
West Brom have won five of their last six matches on the road with wins gained at Ipswich Town, Swansea City, Sheffield United, Rotherham United and Bolton Wanderers, but they’ll face perhaps their biggest test yet on their travels when they make their way down to the south coast to face a stubborn and well organised Brighton outfit under manager Chris Hughton.
