Brighton Prediction – Can Brighton build on Bournemouth win?

A dismal run of four league matches without a win for Brighton in the Premier League was brought to an end by The Seagulls when they registered a welcome three points with a 2-0 home win against south coast rivals, Bournemouth, which lifted Graham Potter’s side into 14th place.

Having picked up points in draws with Wolves and Crystal Palace but also suffering defeats to Sheffield United and Tottenham, Brighton will now head into this New Years Day clash with Chelsea in a more confident frame of mind as they look to bring the New Year in with another win.

Results at home though have produced mixed results as indicated by Brighton’s home record which currently stands at 4-3-3 14/11 and recent wins against Norwich City and Bournemouth have been offset by defeats to Leicester City and Sheffield United.

With just 4 wins out of their last 15 matches at the AMEX Stadium, this clash against Chelsea looks like being another tough challenge for the south coast club, especially as Chelsea have won all of the previous 5 meetings on the trot against them.

Chelsea Prediction – Can Chelsea improve consistency?

Another inconsistent side of late has been Chelsea despite recording a much-needed win away at London rivals, Arsenal, with a comeback win over The Gunners which saw Chelsea come from a goal down to win 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

Chelsea also grabbed the points in a 2-0 win away at Tottenham recently too, but Frank Lampard’s side have also shown their Jeckyll & Hyde traits with recent losses to Everton, Bournemouth and most disappointing of all, a 2-0 defeat to Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

Having lost 3 of their last 4 matches at home with losses to West Ham, Bournemouth and Southampton, a trip to Brighton may be just what Chelsea need, especially as The Blues have won 7 of their last 9 matches on their travels amidst an overall away record of 7-0-3 24/18.

In addition, Chelsea have held the upper hand over their hosts in recent times as they’ve won the last 5 meetings on the trot so Chelsea will be confident they can take the spoils down on the south coast on New Years Day.

Key-Facts – Brighton vs Chelsea

  • Brighton have won just 4 of their last 15 matches at home in the EPL
  • Chelsea have won 7 of their last 9 away matches in the EPL
  • Chelsea have won the last 5 meetings on the trot against Brighton

Betting Tips Verdict

Brighton need to prove they can pick up results on a regular basis while ‘hot or cold’ Chelsea should turn up here and grab the points.
