Saturday’s early kick-off in the Championship features two sides that so far, have exceeded all expectations in the second tier this season with hosts Bristol City sitting in fourth place, taking on second placed Cardiff City at Ashton Gate.
Bristol City have won four of their last six league matches, with three of these victories being recorded away from home at Ipswich Town, Sunderland and Fulham, while The Robins’ home record stands at a solid 3-3-1 10/6 which was dented recently when they went down to a 3-0 defeat at home to Leeds United last time out on home turf.
Bristol City manager, Lee Johnson, will be hoping his troops can bounce back with a win here today, but they’re likely to have their work cut out against a well organised Cardiff City outfit. Midfielder Reid (9 goals) is The Robin’s leading goalscorer, but they’ll have to do without forward Diedhiou (5 goals) with a long term injury.
Visitors Cardiff City have enjoyed a very successful start to their new Championship campaign as The Bluebirds sit just one point adrift of Championship leaders, Wolves, and have suffered just one defeat from their last eight matches overall.
That loss came in a surprising 1-0 defeat away at Birmingham City recently, so manager Neil Warnock will have been pleased with how his team bounced back in their next away match when they registered a 1-0 win away at 8th placed Middlesbrough.
Cardiff hold an away record of 4-1-2 7/7 with defeats at Preston North End and Birmingham, but on the flip side, the Welsh outfit have recorded wins at Burton Albion, Wolves, Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
I fancy Cardiff to perhaps spring another surprise here, but take the draw no bet option.
