Three defeats from their last four matches has seen Bristol City drop completely out of the race for the play-offs and they sit in 11th place in the Championship and four points adrift of sixth placed Millwall ahead of this Saturday’s action in the second tier.

Recent defeats to Brentford, Millwall and Middlesbrough perhaps suggest that Bristol City are a little way off from making a serious challenge for a top six finish, but their form at Ashton Gate this season has been pretty solid with a record of  11-5-5  34/20 which includes recent wins over QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich Town and Birmingham City.

Bristol City also possess striker Diedhiou (11 goals) up front who has been in good goalscoring form for The Robins so far this season. Manager, Lee Johnson will be keen for his side to maintain their slim chances of a play-off spot with a win here.

Hull City have a comfortable nine point cushion over third from bottom club Barnsley as they make their way down to the south west to take on Bristol City, but they’ll come into this clash on the back of a 1-0 loss at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Hull have certainly made a vast improvement under former Southampton boss, Nigel Adkins, as The Tigers look to have safely avoided any last minute relegation worries, and they’ve recently put together a useful four match run without defeat in the Championship after draws with Aston Villa and Wolves, as well as wins over QPR and Burton Albion.

However, much of Hull’s recent success has been recorded at their KC Stadium, while their away record still reads a poor looking  4-6-11  23/32 despite wins at Nottingham Forest, Ipswich Town and Burton Albion.

To sum up, Bristol City’s need appears to be the greater of the two here.
