Bristol City Preview – Can Robins bounce back after consecutive defeats to end February?
Nigel Pearson celebrated a year in charge of Bristol City last month and he will be hoping that the next 12 months sees his team push up the table and closer to the race for the playoffs. City are in 17th place coming into this weekend’s match and 14 points behind sixth place Luton Town. Not only does the points margin suggest it is pretty improbable, the number of teams they have to overcome is just too much to ask.
Equally, although closer to the bottom they have a comfortable gap of 17 points so relegation doesn’t look like being an issue. The challenge for Pearson and his players is to have a positive end to the season and begin building for a better campaign next time around.
Birmingham City Preview – Are Birmingham set for a first away win in the league since October?
Birmingham’s situation is slightly worse than that of their opponents in terms of league position. The Blues are three places below Bristol City as well as being three points worse off. It’s also extremely unlikely they are in any real danger of going down but Birmingham’s plight is more off the field than on it. The supporters continue to protest against the direction the ownership is taking the club in and it is making for a real dismal time of it just now.
Lee Bowyer’s men also come into this game having lost their last two, beaten by Reading and Huddersfield Town.

Winning games on the road are few and far between for Birmingham this season, especially recently. They’ve won only only three with their last success on their travels coming on the 30th of October. Since then, they have lost six and drawn four. It is an awful run and one they will be looking to end as soon as possible.
Scott Hogan has been in good form of late. He’s hit four in his last seven league games, reaching 10 for the season. His best ever at this level was 14 back in his time with Brentford.
Bristol City vs Birmingham City Betting Advice
It is something of a dead rubber this game with neither team close to the playoffs and not any realistic threat of being dragged into the relegation zone. That said, with both teams looking to avoid a third straight defeat they won’t want to extend their respective losing runs.
It’s Birmingham who have enjoyed the better of recent fixtures. They’ve won their last three visits to Ashton Gate and they were also comprehensive winners in the meeting earlier in the season, winning 3-0.
Key Facts – Bristol City vs Birmingham City Betting Tip
- Bristol City had won four straight at home before losing to Coventry most recently at Ashton Gate
