Bristol Rovers will be aiming to secure a third consecutive league win on the trot on Saturday afternoon when they play host to Oxford United at the Memorial Ground following recent back-to-back wins in League One.
Recent wins over west country rivals Plymouth Argyle as well as a heavy 6-0 win away at Northampton Town have helped lift Rovers up into the top half of the division, and with a home record of 4-0-2 13/11 so far, The Pirates may well be confident of taking the spoils here this afternoon.
Rovers have won four of their last five on home turf with wins over Fleetwood Town, Walsall, Blackpool and Plymouth, while losing just three matches from their last 19 in their own backyard in League One. Look out for forward pair Gaffney (5 goals) and Harrison (4 goals).
Visitors Oxford United registered a second win on the trot last weekend when they recorded a comfortable 3-0 home win over AFC Wimbledon, which followed a heavy 4-1 win away at Peterborough United the previous week.
And although Oxford United sit in 10th place in League One, this is largely due to losing just once at their Kassam Stadium while their form on the road has been far less consistent; The U’s have won just once in their last five away from home amidst an overall away record of 2-1-3 8/9.
In addition, Oxford have lost the last two meetings between these two sides on the road, 6-2 and 2-1, and whilst Rovers may not win this one, I reckon they’re well placed to get something from this clash.
