Ravaged by a bout of illness ahead of the last sixteen tie with Nigeria, who had navigated the group stage without dropping a single point. It therefore came as quite the shock when Tunisia – minus their coach who, along with ten members of his squad, was forced to isolate – eliminated the Super Eagles from the competition with a 1-0 win in normal time, courtesy of Youssef Msakni’s speculative long-range effort.
Buoyed by such an outstanding collective display last time, the Eagles of Carthage should welcome back several key players for this a third AFCON quarter-final in their last four appearances. They have been anything but convincing until this stage, though.
