Burnley could lift themselves up into the top half of the Premier League if they take all three points against West Brom when the two teams clash at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon, and in turn this would also guarantee Burnley’s top flight status for next season.
Burnley possess the best home record out of all the teams situated in the bottom half of the Premier League (yes, even better than Hull City) with an overall record of 10-2-5 23/16 on home turf which has kept them out of trouble throughout their return to the Premier League in what has been a successful campaign for Sean Dyche’s men.
Although their results away from home have threatened to make it a nervous run-in for The Clarets, six wins from their last nine at Turf Moor have consolidated their position in the top flight having registered notable wins over Southampton and Leicester City along with a point against Chelsea in recent weeks.
Visitors West Brom have also put together what must be considered a great campaign under manager Tony Pulis as The Baggies currently occupy 8th place in the Premier League although they’ve suffered four defeats on the trot coming in to this encounter at Burnley.
Recent defeats to Watford, Southampton, Liverpool and Leicester City have taken the gloss off West Brom’s earlier efforts this season and Pulis will be desperate for his charges to return to winning ways sooner rather than later.
It’s interesting to note that three of West Brom’s last four defeats have been recorded on home turf, so an away trip might just take the pressure off. That said, West Brom are without an away win from their last six on their travels amidst an overall record of 3-6-7 12/22.
This therefore leads me to believe that Burnley stand a great chance of getting something at Turf Moor today.
