Burnley Preview – Clarets to get the job done on home turf?

Due to their Premier League game with Fulham being called off last weekend, this will be Burnley’s first fixture of 2021. Last time out, the Clarets secured a vital 1-0 home win over bottom side Sheffield United.

Burnley made a poor start to their season, but Sean Dyche’s troops have definitely picked up in recent weeks. The Lancashire club have won three of their last five, seeing off Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers before their win over the Blades in their previous outing.

Our betting prediction:
Burnley to score 3+ goals

Burnley’s one and only FA Cup triumph came way back in 1914. Premier League survival and a good run in the cup will be high on Dyche’s wish list this season. The Lancashire team will be looking to get 2021 up and running with a comfortable FA Cup win on home turf.

MK Dons Preview – Can the Dons cause an upset at Turf Moor?

Russell Martin’s MK Dons currently occupy 16th place in the League One table. After 21 games played, the Dons have picked up six wins, drawn seven times and suffered eight defeats. They have won their last two, though.

MK Dons’ FA Cup journey started with a 4-3 penalty shootout win at Eastleigh on November 8th. In round two, the club from Milton Keynes sealed another away win, this time beating Barnet 1-0 thanks to a Cameron Jerome goal.

After a run of four games without a win, the Dons have finally found some form, picking up league victories over Bristol Rovers and Swindon Town in their last two. However, getting a positive result at Turf Moor this weekend will be an uphill task for the third-tier side.

Burnley vs MK Dons Betting Advice

This will be just the fifth meeting between Burnley and MK Dons. They first squared off in an FA Cup tie back in January 2010, which the Clarets won 2-1. Back in January 2016, goals from Joey Barton, Sam Vokes, Andre Gray, Matthew Lowton and George Boyd gave Burnley a 5-0 EFL Championship win at Stadium MK.

Key Facts – Burnley vs MK Dons Betting Tip

  • Burnley have won three of their previous five games
  • The Clarets have taken 10 points from the last 12 on offer at home in the league
  • MK Dons have won four of their last six on the road in all competitions

MK Dons have the potential to be tricky customers for the Premier League side. However, with this taking place at Turf Moor, Burnley should edge it. With that in mind, check out the solid price of 9/4 for the home team to win and both sides to score.

New Zealander Chris Wood has been far from prolific this season, netting just three goals in 18 appearances. However, his last two goals have been winners against Crystal Palace and Wolves. You can get 23/20 for Wood to score in a Burnley win on Saturday.
