The lunchtime instalment of Sunday’s Premier League action is a clash between Cardiff City and Arsenal at the Cardiff City Stadium as the betting tips continue in the top flight.
Cardiff City enjoyed a triumphant finish to last season as they achieved automatic promotion with Wolves from the Championship, but the harsh realities of Premier League football have already made themselves known to Cardiff as they’ve taken just one point from the first possible 9 on the table.
Cardiff’s shortcomings so far have been their inability to stick the ball in the back of the net, and although they’ve conceded just 2 goals in their three matches to date, they’ve failed to score themselves and they’re due to face an attacking Arsenal outfit this Sunday.
Indeed, at this level, Cardiff have scored just 1 goal from their last six matches and it’s hard to see where the goals are going to come from for Neil Warnock’s side. The January transfer window may well see Warnock invest in a striker or two, but by then it may be too late for The Bluebirds.
Arsenal got their first points of the new season last weekend with a 3-1 home win over a struggling West Ham outfit despite going a goal down to The Hammers. Unai Emery’s side quickly equalised though, and in the second half took control with goals from Diop (own goal) and Welbeck.
The visitors have plenty of attacking options though in the shape of Lacazette and Aubameyang who both enjoyed solid goalscoring form last season with the north London club, but they’ll no doubt be keen to improve upon their results away from home this time around.
Arsenal have gained just one win from their last 10 matches on the road, but a visit to goal-shy Cardiff City could well do the trick for Emery’s men.
