Cardiff City will be keen to return to their Cardiff City Stadium for Saturday’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday following back-to-back away matches in the Championship, where they gained just one point on the road.
Neil Warnock’s side earned a solid point away at Craven Cottage against Fulham, but last weekend fell foul to Preston North End in a 3-0 defeat at Deepdale, and he’ll no doubt be relieved to get his troops back on home turf as The Bluebirds look to bounce back with a win here.
Cardiff have made a good start to their new Championship campaign which saw them rack up five league wins on the trot, and they still possess a 100% record at home having secured wins over Aston Villa, Sheffield United and QPR. Forward Junior Hoilett and midfielder Mendez-Laing are the ones to watch out for in attack.
Sheffield Wednesday make their way to Cardiff in good spirits having put together a five match unbeaten run which has helped lift The Owls up into sixth spot in the Championship, and just four points behind today’s hosts, Cardiff.
Wednesday made a slow start to the new Championship season as they lost 1-0 away at Preston North End and then held to a 1-1 draw at home by QPR. But Carlos Carvalhal’s side are made of tougher stuff and have since registered wins over Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Brentford.
However, although Wednesday still remain unbeaten at Hillsborough, they’ve returned a modest yield away from home so far this season, and I believe Cardiff have enough on home turf to get a result of some kind here.
