Cardiff City Preview – Will the Bluebirds make it three wins on the spin?

After a slow start to the season, Cardiff City are now just four points off the play-offs and seven behind second-place Leeds United. The Bluebirds have been very hard to beat under Neil Harris, with just Brentford and Queens Park Rangers getting the better of them.

Cardiff have struggled on the road this season, but City have picked up back-to-back away wins for the first time this season. The club beat Luton Town 1-0 at Kenilworth Road last Saturday, which they followed up with an impressive 3-0 victory against Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium on Wednesday night.

(odds taken 1404 GMT, Friday 14 February)

Cardiff have one of the best home records in the Championship this season. Only Preston North End, Derby County, Fulham and Brentford – who are all played a game more – have picked up more home points. Cardiff could move even closer to the play-offs with a ninth home league victory of the season on Saturday.

Wigan Athletic Preview – Can the Latics avoid an 11th Championship away defeat?

Wigan Athletic have been really poor away from home this season, winning just two of 16. Only Luton and Barnsley have picked up fewer away points (both six) than Paul Cook’s men (ten) up until now. However, Wigan did claim a shock victory at Elland Road earlier in the month, with a Pablo Hernandez own goal gifting them a 1-0 win.

Wigan have taken a respectable seven points from the last 12 on offer, but Athletic still find themselves in the Championship’s drop zone. The club from Greater Manchester are four points adrift of safety with 14 games left to play.

Wigan battled to an entertaining draw against Middlesbrough last time out. Sam Morsy’s goal was cancelled out by two quickfire second-half Lewis Wing strikes. Despite having Chey Dunkley sent off before that, a Boro own goal earned Wigan a share of the spoils at the DW Stadium.

Wigan have found it tough going in the second tier this season, and they could be in for a difficult day in the Welsh capital. Nevertheless, can the Latics cause an upset?

Cardiff City vs Wigan Athletic City Betting Advice

These two teams played out an absolute thriller at the DW Stadium on the opening weekend of the season. Wigan eventually ran out 3-2 winners, despite Cardiff taking the lead early on. The Welsh side have not beaten Athletic in almost five years.
