Cardiff City scored what seemed an unlikely result away at Wolves last weekend with a 3-1 win which maintained their position of 9th in the Championship table ahead of this afternoon’s encounter with struggling Rotherham United.
The Bluebirds have struggled for consistency all season, but at least at their Cardiff City Stadium, they’ve only suffered just one defeat all season amidst an overall record of 7-5-1 19/11 as they’ve put together an impressive nine-match unbeaten run on home turf.
Within this impressive home form are wins over Charlton Athletic, Middlesbrough, Reading, Brentford and Blackburn Rovers with striker Joe Mason being the main goalscoring threat up front for The Bluebirds.
Visitors Rotherham United were unable to put together back-to-back wins last weekend as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat at home to QPR which was disappointing as they’d previously registered a vital three points in a 2-0 home win over Brighton in the match beforehand.
Rotherham sit just one league position above the bottom three but they’re level on points with Bristol City going into this weekend’s round of matches with a tough trip down to Wales ahead of them today. Away from home, Rotherham have really struggled to stay with most of their opponents, and they’ve lost their last four on the road on their travels.
An away record of 2-1-10 11/24 doesn’t inspire me with much confidence, and only Bolton Wanderers have lost more away games than The Millermen so far this season in the Championship.
I do suggest giving the quarter-ball on Cardiff City to be safe, but the hosts should win this one.
