CELTA VIGO v REAL MADRID

Wednesday 17th May 2017 – Kickoff: 2000hrs

Football – Spain – La Liga Betting Tips

Celta Vigo face a very tough assignment on Wednesday night, even with home advantage at their Estadio de Balaídos, when they take on La Liga joint leaders, Real Madrid, as the hosts look to avoid a sixth straight defeat.

Participation in the Europa League seems to have really disrupted Celta Vigo’s domestic campaign in recent times as they’ve slumped to five straight losses in La Liga with defeats to Real Betis, Sevilla, Athletic Bilbao, Malaga and Deportivo Alaves, and indeed, the hosts have registered just one win from their last eight matches overall, which was a 3-0 win at relegated Granada.

After being dumped out of the Europa League by Manchester United, Celta can now concentrate back on the domestic league, but having lost their last three matches on home turf on the trot, it’s going to be very difficult to just ‘turn it on’ again, especially when you’re facing Real Madrid!

Visitors Real Madrid are expected to have the bit fairly and squarely between their teeth tonight when they make their way to Vigo with a game in hand over title rivals Barcelona, level on points as we head into the climax of the La Liga season.

Real Madrid are way behind Barca though in terms of goal difference (17 goals adrift to be exact), so they’ll be going all out for all three points here to eliminate the goal-difference factor, and having won their last four matches on the trot with wins over Deportivo La Coruna, Valencia, Granada and Sevilla, they look in good shape here.

In addition, Real Madrid’s overall away record stands at an impressive  13-2-2  52/20 (having exactly the same for/against record as Barcelona), which includes having won their last seven away matches on the trot.
