Celtic Preview – Champions to cruise to all three points?
Neil Lennon’s Celtic warmed up for this season opener with back-to-back friendly wins over Ross County and Hibernian. However, it was not all plain sailing during their pre-season campaign, as the Hoops were beaten 2-1 by Olympique Lyonnais before crashing to a heavy 4-0 defeat to French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Celtic were embroiled in a fascinating title race with rivals Rangers in the first half of last season. However, Lennon’s men stepped on the gas after Christmas, only dropping two points from their last ten league fixtures. The Hoops were beaten just twice in last season’s Premiership, winning 26 of 30 matches.
Celtic have won each of the last nine Premiership championships, and the Glasgow giants will be looking for a famous ten in a row this season. Of course, Old Firm rivals Rangers will be hoping to push them close, but the Bhoys are the strong favourites to retain their crown.
Celtic should ease past Hamilton at Celtic Park on Sunday, and Lennon and his men will be targeting a big victory from their first Premiership game since March.
Hamilton Academical Preview – Accies to start with a heavy defeat?
Hamilton Academical were saved by the early cancellation of the 2019-20 Scottish Premiership season back in March. Brian Rice’s side ended on 27 points, just four points above bottom club Hearts, who were relegated to the Scottish Championship.
The Accies picked up just six wins in a miserable campaign. Along the way, Hamilton lost exactly half of their 30 league matches, scoring 30 and shipping 50. Only Hearts and Ross County let in more.
