Motherwell were also in action on the European stage during the week and it was a more successful evening for ‘Well as they recorded a convincing 5-1 home win against Northern Ireland outfit, Glentoran, at Fir Park to progress through to the next qualifying round of the Europa League.
However, success in the Europa League has come at an early cost in the Scottish Premiership for Motherwell as the visitors are still without a win in this season’s domestic top flight, having suffered defeats against Ross County, Dundee United and most disappointing of all, last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at home to lowly Hamilton Academical.
The bigger picture doesn’t bode well either for Motherwell as they’ve managed to pick up just one win out of their last 13 matches overall, so they’ll have their work cut out to get a result at Celtic Park as they look set to come under siege from an in-form Celtic side.
