Celtic host Rangers in the last Glasgow derby of the season with the hosts looking for three points which would put them on the cusp of regaining the title they lost in the last campaign.

Celtic – Will Celtic all but clinch the title with a third league in succession against rivals?

After last weekend’s 2-0 win away to Ross County a 10th league title in 11 seasons is within touching distance for Celtic. It is a position that few expected them to be in following defeat to Livingston back in September which, at the time, was their third defeat in six league games to start the season. That loss to Livi remains their last defeat in the league in what has been a tremendous run. The win in Dingwall means they are now unbeaten in 28 Premiership matches (24 wins and four draws).

That form sees them six points clear of Rangers with a better goal difference of 19 which is essentially another point at this stage. Basically, a win here would see them crowned champions and cement the turnaround that Ange Postecoglou has overseen.

The home record is even more impressive. Celtic are unbeaten in the league at Celtic Park this season and looking for an 11th straight win. Only three visiting teams have scored in the Premiership, conceding just four in total.
Kyogo Furuhashi made his first start of 2022 in the win on Sunday, marking it with the first goal of the game. That was his 17th goal in all competitions this season – his first in Scotland. The decision for his manager is weather the Japanese international gets the nod to start or he choose to go with Giorgos Giakoumakis. The Greek started both the 3-0 win at Celtic Park and 2-1 success at Ibrox, causing Rangers’ defence all sorts of problems with his physicality.

Rangers Preview – Can Rangers repeat their victory in the Scottish Cup and keep their title hopes alive?

Rangers know that anything less than a win here and their title defence is all but over. Even a draw would be insufficient considering Celtic would still hold a six point lead with three games to go – and that much superior goal difference. Giovanni Van Bronckhurst will be hoping his team can take revenge for their two league defeats in the derby under his tenure. Rangers did come from behind to beat Celtic in the Scottish Cup in April, though.

The Ibrox club make the short journey to the East End of Glasgow in between the home and away legs of their Europa League semi-final. Rangers went down 1-0 to RB Leipzig in Germany on Thursday and will be hoping to turn that around when they meet again next week.

Rangers are unbeaten in their last five away matches in the league since losing to Celtic here back in February. They were blown away on that occasion, conceding three goals in the first half.

They continue to do without Alfredo Morelos, Aaron Ramsay and Kemar Roofe for this one so much responsibility will lie on the shoulders of Ryan Kent.

Celtic vs Rangers Betting Advice

It has been a dramatic turnaround in the Scottish Premiership title race. Rangers were six points clear heading into the winter break but as has so often been the case in recent years with crowds in, they have been unable to sustain it. Celtic’s consistency and quality has been the different to this point but there is still work to do.

The Hoops have the edge in league meetings but it’s two wins apiece across games in all competitions so there has  not been much between the sides with three of them being settled by a one goal margin.

Key Facts –  Celtic vs Rangers Betting Tip

  • Celtic are six points clear with a significantly better goal difference as they look to regain title
  • Rangers are unbeaten in their last five league games on the road
  • The Hoops have had the edge in league meetings this season, winning two to Rangers’ one

It is going to be raucous atmosphere inside Celtic Park on Sunday and the home side will be looking to use that to their advantage. The record domestically is great and their form at home is even better. Take Celtic to finish the job in the best possible style by beating their archest of rivals.
