Charlton Athletic have recently revived their fortunes in League One and in turn have kick-started their aspirations for a play-off place following recent back-to-back wins which have lifted The Addicks into sixth place in the third tier.
Following wins over Oldham Athletic and Bury, Charlton have pushed themselves back into the play-off conversation in League One, and they have home advantage at The Valley on Saturday afternoon when they take on bottom half outfit, Walsall, with the hosts looking for a third league win on the trot.
The Addicks went through a sticky patch recently which saw them go four matches without a win, but the 1-0 win over Oldham should give them renewed confidence as they look to further improve a current home record that stands at 7-4-3 19/15.
Walsall lifted themselves away from the relegation zone with a much needed 2-1 win over Oxford United last weekend which ended a five match sequence without a win in League One, but the recent win now sees The Saddlers sitting in 15th place.
Defeats to Northampton Town, Rotherham United and Plymouth Argyle threatened to plunge the west midlands outfit into the relegation battle, and although they secured a valuable three points last Saturday, they’re not out of the woods yet by any means.
This especially appears to be the case when looking at Walsall’s away record which stands at a disappointing 3-3-6 13/18 along with coming into this clash on the back of three matches without a win on the road.
I’ll back Charlton here with the assisted handicap though, as they need to convince me that they’re back on an even keel.
