Lee Bowyer’s Charlton have their work cut out in order to finish in the playoffs. Sitting in ninth, they are four points behind sixth place Portsmouth coming into this game but, perhaps crucially, they have played at least one game more than all the other teams currently above them in the table. Keith Curle was sacked at the beginning of February when the club were second bottom and looking increasingly likely to drop into the league below. It hasn’t been an instant uptick in results for new boss Jon Brady but their most recent results and performances indicate they are going the right way now.
Back to back wins against Plymouth and Portsmouth (the latter of which was a 4-1 victory) have moved Northampton out of the relegation zone and up to 19th in the table.

There remains a lot of work to do for Northampton considering they are only two points above the drop zone with it looking increasingly likely that seven teams are battling to avoid finishing in the bottom four places. Brady will hope that his team are hitting a bit of form at just the right team.
A real issue for Northampton has been conceding goals on their travels this season. Their concession of 29 goals is the joint worst of any team in the division but they have kept two clean sheets in their last four away matches.
