Chelsea Preview – Can Chelsea get back on track?
Frank Lampard’s Chelsea side have dropped out of the top five of the Premier League thanks to managing to win just one of their last five matches overall which came in the shape of a 3-0 home win over London rivals, West Ham, but the hosts will be keen to return to winning ways at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
However, this may be easier said than done as their opponents for this upcoming clash are Manchester City who also have a point to prove as the visitors occupy a disappointing 8th place in the top flight, while Chelsea are by no means guaranteed the three points here either.
The goals market could therefore be the best option here as five of Chelsea’s eight matches have have produced over 2.5 goals and a draw isn’t enough as the hosts find themselves three points adrift of Everton, Leicester City and Tottenham.
Manchester City Preview – Can Man City extend run?
Since their 2-0 loss away from home at Tottenham, Manchester City have embarked upon a useful looking six-match unbeaten run in the Premier League which includes four wins and although they’re still outside of the top five, the visitors are now within three points and look ready to strike.
Recent victories over Burnley, Fulham, Southampton and Newcastle United have helped maintain City’s push up the table after a slow start, but there’s a feeling that City have yet to really move through the gears which could spell trouble for Chelsea on Sunday.
Manchester City have won just two out of their last six away from home though, so goals could be the most likely outcome here, especially as three of the last four meetings have seen over 2.5 goals.
