Michael Duff’s Cheltenham Town take on Paul Cook’s Ipswich Town at Whaddon Road this Tuesday in EFL League One action. The Robins, who won EFL League Two last term, have taken just one point from a possible six thus far. As for the Tractor Boys, they have also drawn one and lost one. It is early days, of course, but both teams could do with maximum points from this one. Read on for the best betting odds and predictions.

Cheltenham Town Preview – Can the Robins bounce back?

Michael Duff did an exceptional job at Whaddon Road last season, guiding the Gloucestershire club to League Two promotion. Cheltenham Town were the real deal in the fourth tier, winning 26 of their 46 league matches. They finished two points clear of Cambridge United at the top.

Staying in League One will be the aim this season. However, it has been a tough start for Town, who were beaten 3-1 at home by Wycombe Wanderers last time out. However, they did beat Bristol Rovers in the cup and draw at Crewe Alexandra in their opening league game.

Our betting prediction:
Both teams to score – No
3/4

Although Ipswich have not started well, the visitors are one of the strongest teams in the division. This will be a real test for last season’s League Two champions.

Ipswich Town Preview – Tractor Boys to pick up first win?

Paul Cook’s Ipswich Town have not got going yet, taking just one point from a possible six and crashing out of the EFL Cup at the first hurdle. On the opening weekend, the Tractor Boys started with a 2-2 draw with Morecambe at Portman Road, netting an injury-time equaliser to snatch a point.

Last weekend, Ipswich were beaten by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium. Lucas Akins netted from the spot late on to give the home team a 2-1 win. The Suffolk side also lost at home in the first round of the EFL Cup to League Two Newport County.

If Ipswich want to be in the promotion mix this season, these are the type of games they must win. Despite their poor start, Cook’s troops are the favourites in this one.

Cheltenham Town vs Ipswich Town Betting Advice

Cheltenham were founded way back in 1887, while Ipswich were formed 142 years ago, but, incredibly, Tuesday’s clash at Jonny-Rocks Stadium will be the first ever meeting between the two clubs.

Key Facts – Cheltenham Town vs Ipswich Town Betting Tip

  • These two clubs have never met before
  • Both sides have picked up one point from a possible six thus far
  • In last term’s League Two, no team accumulated more home points than Cheltenham

Cheltenham will no doubt be a tough nut to crack on their own patch this season, but they were comfortably beaten at home last time out. Ipswich are without a win so far, and Cook will be demanding a strong showing from his players in this one.

It could be close on the scoreline, but we are backing Ipswich to return to Suffolk with a huge three points. The away victory is priced at 6/4.

Joe Pigott has yet to open his Ipswich account, but we fancy the 27-year-old to find the net in this one. Pigott is priced at 15/8 to score anytime on Tuesday.
