China Prediction

China made it through to the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup by beating Thailand 2-1 in the round of 16 to book their place into the last eight of this competition, but this could be as far as they go in this Asian Cup as they now face a strong Iranian outfit in the quarter-finals.

China produced the results that were required (and expected) during the group stages as they registered early back-to-back wins against Kyrgyzstan 2-1 and a 3-0 romp over the Philippines before falling victim to the Asian powerhouse of South Korea in a 2-0 loss.

Nevertheless, China finished runners-up to South Korea in Group C with six points under their belts, and they bounced back from that final group match defeat when they recorded a 2-1 win over Thailand in the last round.

However, China have managed to beat Iran just twice in their previous nine meetings.

Key-Facts – China v Iran

  • China have beaten Iran in just 2 of their previous 9 encounters
  • Iran have beaten China in 5 of their last 9 meetings
  • Iran have covered the -1 asian handicap line in 3 of their 4 matches in the Asian Cup

Iran Prediction

Iran extended their impressive unbeaten run in all competitions to 11 matches when they secured a 2-0 win over Oman in the round of 16 to progress through to the quarter-finals stage of this year’s Asian Cup.

Prior to the tournament, Iran were unbeaten in seven matches which included notable results against Portugal 1-1 and wins against Bolivia and Qatar, both by 2-1 score lines. They’ve made themselves a very hard nation to beat and they finished top of Group D with Iraq, by virtue of possessing a superior goal difference.

Iran were unbeaten throughout the group stage with a crushing 5-0 win over Yemen and a 2-0 victory against Vietnam before playing out a 0-0 draw with Iraq which ensured both teams progressed through to the round of 16.

Iran then saw off Oman 2-0 in the previous round, so scoring goals certainly hasn’t been a problem for Iran with the likes of Azmoun (3 goals) getting amongst the goals for his nation.

Betting Tips Verdict

China may well have progressed as far as their abilities can carry them while Iran should book their place in the semi-finals with a comfortable win here.
