Columbus Preview – Will Columbus continue their excellent home form by making it six in a row?

Considering they were a team who never made the playoffs last season, the turnaround in Columbus Crew this campaign has been remarkable. Caleb Porter’s men are joint top of the Eastern Conference with current champions Toronto. The foundations of their success so far this campaign has been their excellent home form which sees them looking to win a sixth straight match in Ohio. Crew have kept four clean sheets in their previous five and also have the best defensive record in the whole of the MLS.

Winners in 2015, the signs are looking positive now with a month of the regular season left. They’ll be hoping to locl in top spot ahead of the the playoffs.

Whilst it’s the defensive solidity that has been so impressive, Gyasi Zardes has been excellent in an attacking sense. Now in his third season at Columbus, the striker is on 10 goals for the campaign. He’s on target to break his career-best tally of 20 which he hit in his first season with the club.
Porter will be hoping his team can bounce back from a couple of disappointing results on the road of late. They lost 3-1 to Toronto before drawing 2-2 with Dallas. They’ve not when more than two games without a win all season.

Montreal Preview – Could Montreal bounce back to form and get much-needed win to improve playoff chances?

It’s fair to say that Thierry Henry’s arrival in Montreal has not had the desired impact, yet. The former Monaco boss was expected to turn things around after a really poor campaign in 2019 but it’s been much of the same so far. Montreal have work to do in order to ensure they qualify for the finals playoffs at the very least. Currently 10th, they occupy the last of four playoff positions in the Eastern Conference.

The likes of Chicago Fire and Cincinnati are just behind them and if Montreal are unable to regain their form then it won’t be long before Henry and his players find themselves out the top 10.

There’s no shortage of quality in this squad but they have been unable to put it together, particularly over the last few weeks. Montreal are without a win in their last five games, losing four of them and conceding plenty of goals in the process. The Impact have not kept a clean sheet in their last seven games – allowing 19 in that time.

Victor Wanyama and Saphir Taider are two of their key players but more is needed from them if they are to play int he post-season. Bojan also continues to flatter to deceive in attack.

Columbus vs Montreal Betting Advice

There’s no doubt Montreal are in greater need of the points than their opponents coming into this game. Columbus will be hoping to finish top of the Eastern Conference and haven’t won their last two but they are a good team who will be a threat in the finals. Montreal, considering the expectations that were on them following Henry’s arrival, simply have to do better.

The omens aren’t good for Impact, however, as they have only ever won once in their previous 12 visits to Ohio.

Key Facts – Columbus vs Montreal Betting Tip

  • Current leaders, Columbus have won their last five at home keeping four clean sheets in the process
  • Montreal have lost their last three away games, conceding 10 goals in the process
  • It’s just one win in 12 visits to Columbus for Montreal in franchise history

It looks to be a big challenge for Montreal to get anything from this game as recent results will sharpen Columbus’ focus. The home team don’t concede many but the visitors do score goals and have notched in each of their last eight. Both teams to score looks tempting as a result.
