Crystal Palace Prediction

After a dreadful sequence of managing just one league win from 11 league matches from September to early December in the top flight, Crystal Palace have made a much needed recovery in recent times with wins over Leicester City and Manchester City, along with a draw against Cardiff City.

Roy Hodgson’s team were in desperate need of maximum points after capturing just the one win which was a 2-0 home win over Burnley, but 7 defeats from these previous 11 matches had dropped Palace nearer the relegation zone.

The Eagles have bounced back well though, and in particular, their 3-2 win away at Manchester City was an impressive and well deserved victory. Hodgson will be very wary though of his side dropping their intensity and momentum, and they’ll face a tough clash against Chelsea in this one.

Crystal Palace’s home record stands at 2-3-4 5/8 but although they’ve lost just once in their last five at home, the hosts have found goals hard to come by at Selhurst Park. The Eagles have failed to score in 6 of their 9 home matches to date.

Chelsea Prediction

Chelsea remain in fourth place in the Premier League thanks to a Boxing Day 2-1 win away at Watford, but their previous match which ended in a 1-0 loss at home to Leicester City was a major blow to Maurizio Sarri’s title ambitions.

We’re still only halfway through the season but it looks increasingly like Chelsea will have to make do with a top four finish this term as they find themselves 11 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool heading into this weekend’s action.

Chelsea have won four of their last six matches overall, while an away record of 6-1-2 18/8 includes back-to-back wins at Brighton and Watford, both in 2-1 victories on their travels. Perhaps more importantly, Chelsea have scored in 8 of their 9 away matches to date and their consistent goalscoring could well be the difference in this clash.

Betting Tips Verdict

Crystal Palace haven’t been consistent at home whilst Chelsea need the points here to consolidate their top four ambitions.
