Monday night concludes the action in the Premier League this weekend with Crystal Palace taking on Liverpool as my betting tips continue at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace started the new campaign in much better circumstances than at the start of last term under former manager, Frank de Boer, as they captured all three points in a 2-0 win away at fellow London club, Fulham on the opening day of the season.
Roy Hodgson has certainly turned things around at Selhusrt Park since his arrival last season, and they’ve hit the ground running at the start of this new term following a positive pre-season schedule which saw The Eagles win five of their six games.
Powerful midfielder Kouyate has joined from West Ham along with forward Jordan Ayew from Swansea City as Hodgson has bolstered his attacking options following last season’s period when they lost influential striker Zaha through injury.
Onto Liverpool, and The Reds started their new season in dominant fashion as they swept aside West Ham in a 4-0 romp at Anfield, with the hosts exploiting a rather confused looking Hammers back line that played far too high and seemed determined to hold that line whatever the situation.
Liverpool will face a much more disciplined and well-organised defensive unit when they make their way to Crystal Palace on Monday night, but manager Jurgen Klopp has plenty of options up his sleeve this season as the merseysiders have certainly splashed the cash during the summer transfer window.
In comes Brazilian goalkeeper, Allison, Stoke City’s Shaqiri, Keita from Leipzig and Fabinho from Monaco who will provide Liverpool with greater depth and quality, proving their serious intent to make a serious title challenge this time around.
The visitors now need to deliver on the cash they’ve spent, but my betting tips suggest that they’ll find Crystal Palace a stubborn opponent…
