Cyprus sit in third spot but find themselves five points behind the top two nations with just two matches remaining of the group phase. The hosts are caught between going for promotion and attempting to avoid possible relegation, although the latter seems the more probable outcome as Cyprus await their fate.
Cyprus have registered just one win to date from their four matches which was a 2-1 home win over bottom nation Slovenia, but defeats away at Norway and Bulgaria have all but sealed their slim hopes of promotion.
Bulgaria and Norway are neck and neck at the top of Group 3, both level on nine points apiece as Bulgaria prepare for their trip to Cyprus where they’ll be looking to take all three points in order to stake their claim for promotion to League B.
Of the two teams at the top, Bulgaria seemingly have the tougher task of getting a win here, while Norway look set to take all three points at a canter; Bulgaria will be looking to bounce back though following their 1-0 loss away at Norway after three wins on the trot.
Bulgaria opened their account in emphatic style as they recorded three wins on the trot over Slovenia (away) along with wins over Norway and Cyprus (at home), so confidence should still be high in the visitors camp.
