There’s a full slate of fixtures in the National League on Tuesday night and my next pick features two sides who have serious designs on at least a play-off spot come next May, if not automatic promotion from the non-league top flight this season.
Dagenham finished in fourth place at the end of last season which secured them a place in the play-off semi-finals, but they crashed out 3-1 on aggregate to the eventual play-off final winners, Forest Green Rovers, so The Daggers will be wanting to go a step better this time around.
However, Dagenham sit in a disappointing ninth place at the moment following recent back-to-back defeats to Woking and Wrexham, so even though they possess a home record of 5-1-2 18/10, there’s no guarantee of all three points here for the hosts.
Visitors Macclesfield deservedly sit top of the National League after stringing together an impressive five league wins on the trot which has helped The Silkmen to a three point cushion over second placed Dover Athletic.
Confidence will be high amongst the Macclesfield squad following wins over Torquay United, Aldershot Town, Guiseley, Ebbsfleet United and newly relegated Leyton Orient – the latter being a 1-0 win on the weekend at the Matchroom Stadium.
But most impressive is that Macclesfield have also put together five consecutive wins on their travels too, amidst an overall away record of 6-0-2 9/6, with momentum steadily building for the Moss Rose outfit.
With a straight win being hard to call for either side here, I’ll back the visitors to grab at least a point here.
