Denmark – Hjulmand seeking to maintain perfection?

As the only European team to win every single qualifier thus far, Kasper Hjulmand and his players come into Tuesday’s contest knowing an eighth successive Group F victory would secure safe passage to next year’s tournament with games to spare. Bearing in mind how they hadn’t conceded through seven qualifiers, let alone drop points, we suspect there could be cause for celebration inside Parken Stadium.

So far, the Danes have been flawless in every sense. Boasting both the highest goal tally (26) and leanest defence whilst making extremely light work of a competitive section comprising three nations in the world’s top-80. Saturday’s rout of Moldova was their seventh win in eight, meanwhile, a period encompassing their semi-final run at EURO 2020 where they were eventually ousted in extra-time by England.

Key Stat: The Danes have played 15 times in 2021, winning 11 (D2 L2 when excluding results after extra-time). All but one of these victories were TO NIL.

Denmark Win/Both Teams to Score

Austria – Win or bust in Copenhagen?

Despite victory over the weekend, with goals from former RB Leipzig team-mates Konrad Laimer and Marcel Sabitzer sealing a 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands that wasn’t without its hairy moments, the situation in Group F from an Austrian perspective remains precarious. Trailing Scotland by four points, Das Team essentially must win all remaining qualifiers to stand any hope of sneaking into a runners-up berth.

Franco Foda must therefore plot the Danes first loss of this qualifying campaign. Which is clearly easier said than done, losing a pair of recent meetings (both since 2018) without scoring. Among them March’s crushing 4-0 scoreline in Vienna. Foda’s men evidently have plenty to find if they are to reverse their fortunes. A clean sheet would be a solid foundation, though: their previous six away wins were all to nil.

Key Stat: Austria have picked up two wins from three away qualifiers so far, winning both halves and by a 2-0 scoreline versus Moldova and Faroe Islands.

Denmark Vs Austria Betting Advice

Seven wins from seven. An average of 3.7 goals scored per qualifier. Not a single goal conceded. The Danes have been irrepressible thus far and will again take some stopping as they set about winning an eighth consecutive home international. Austria wilted when the sides met first time around in Vienna, capitulating in a 4-0 hammering, and it is doubtful they will be successful in reversing such a wide-margin defeat.

Denmark Vs Austria – Key Facts:

  • The Danes occupy top spot in Group I. They are the only team from Europe to have won every qualifier so far (W7), scoring 26 times without conceding any.
  • It has been an inconsistent campaign from the Austrians (W3 D1 L3), meanwhile, who could find themselves out of contention for a top two finish should they lose in Copenhagen.
  • The 4-0 victory enjoyed in Vienna in March was Denmark’s fourth win in five meetings with Austria and second inside three years; also winning 2-0 at home in October 2018.

I’m still anticipating a closer affair. Austria know anything less than a win would seriously jeopardise their chances of catching Scotland in the pursuit of a runners-up finish in Group I. This should lead to an attack-minded approach from Franco Foda, who has seen his Austrian team notch twice away in the Faroe Islands, Moldova and Scotland. As such, they are fancied to at least end the hosts’ run of clean sheets.
