Dinamo Zagreb Preview – Can the champions make it seven league wins in a row and go seven points clear in the process?

It’s not been a flawless first part of the season for Dinamo domestically but they come into this game in a relatively good position. For a team who lost only twice in the whole of the last season they have already lost as many games in the first 15 games of this campaign. With just one draw, however, it means the champions are top by four points and also have a game in hand over their nearest rivals. Considering this is also be done in tandem with competing in the group stages of the Champions League it’s an impressive enough start for Dinamo and they have a chance to make it even better with a win on Friday.

The leaders flexed their muscles in the last game before the international break when thumping Rijeka 5-0 away from home. That was their sixth win in a row in the league and they have won five of those without conceding a goal. Should they make it seven wins on the bounce it would already be very difficult for any team to overtake them despite not even being halfway through the season.

Hadjuk Split – Will Hadjuk repeat their win from earlier in the season over the leaders and move to within a point?

Looking back at last season and Hadjuk Split finished in fourth spot a full 30 points behind the eventual champions, Dinamo. It’s a huge gulf so the fact they are only four points behind the leaders approaching the midway points of the season is some sort of achievement. They’ve not won a league since 2005 and it was always going to be a huge ask for them to end that wait this season simply because of how formidable this Dinamo team is.

It was a statement of intent when Hadjuk defeated Dinamo back at the end of August as it was their first win in seven meetings between the two. They now have to go beyond even that and at least get a point away from home. That could be easier said than done, though, as Hadjuk’s away from in the league has been extremely underwhelming. Their seven games on the road have seen them win only once and lose three. It’s hardly a record that inspires confidence going into what is easily the toughest away game they face.

Key-Facts – Dinamo Zagreb vs Hadjuk Split

  • Dinamo have shown their class of late in the league winning their last six, five of which have been without conceding
  • Hadjuk can move to within a point of top spot but have won only three of their last six in the league
  • It was Hadjuk who were victorious when the teams met earlier in the season, winning 1-0 at home

Dinamo Zagreb v Hadjuk Split Betting Advice

It may not be a flawless domestic record but Dinamo’s record at home certainly is certainly unblemished. Six wins from six games, 10 goals scored and only one conceded is ominous reading for any visiting team. It’s not even the best record in the league, though, that actually belongs to Hadjuk who have won all eight of their home games. But their troubles on the road are apparent and something they have to overcome on Friday.
With a massive game in Europe to come for Dinamo next midweek (away to Atalanta in the Champions League) this has the potential to be a season-defining week for the Croatian champions. Their current form will give them a lot of confidence and it makes me confident in putting them up to win and keeping yet another clean sheet. Their opponents also struggle for goals on their travels with seven in as many games.
