Dover Athletic return to their Perrys Crabble Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to rekindle their early season form when they take on Hartlepool United, following four league matches without a win.
The Kent outfit started the new season in promising form, but recent weeks has seen them slump to back-to-back defeats against Dagenham & Redbridge and Fylde, along with draws against Leyton Orient and Bromley. Nevertheless, the home side still occupy a play-off spot in fifth place but will be keen to make up lost ground on the league leaders, Sutton United.
Dover’s home record stands at a slightly disappointing 5-3-3 15/8 as their home form has usually been pretty solid, but defeat last time out to Fylde will have been a concern.
Visitors Hartlepool United are yet just another side who have found life in the National League hard to adjust to following relegation from League Two at the end of last season, as The Pools find themselves in a disappointing 13th place in the non-league top flight.
The north-east outfit started their new campaign in disastrous fashion as they lost four of their first six league matches, but they’ve since pulled themselves together somewhat as they’ve lost just four from their subsequent 17 matches thereafter.
And although they’ve lost three of their last four overall, their record on the road this season stands at 4-4-3 10/11 with just one defeat from their last eight on their travels. Wins at Guiseley, Leyton Orient, Solihull Moors and Torquay United indicate they’re too good to be sucked into a relegation battle, and points at Macclesfield, Wrexham, Boreham Wood and Woking suggest they’re capable of getting something at Dover on Saturday.
